No Time

Waiting too long at traffic lights– It’s no delight. People too slow, They need to go. The light turns green, thank God, at last! Step on the gas. I’m out of sight, It’s time to write. Sixty seconds left on the clock; Life’s run amok. I don’t have time, To end this rhyme. Copyright ©Continue reading “No Time”

Through the Mist and Fog

Through the mist and fog, We traveled; Mysteries of song, Unraveled. To subside our fears, We talked; Lest something hiding near, We walked. O’er the ground we’re rushing, In retreat; Leaves all around, we’re crushing, ‘Neath our feet. Howling in the woods: They’re calling, Prowling; nothing good, Befalling. Stopped ahead in our path– A beast;Continue reading “Through the Mist and Fog”

Songs of the Forest

Falling leaves festoon the forest floor as the Falsetto of falcons flows fluidly over the fields, where Faltering fawns flee fearfully from Following fellows with fierce fire. Birds beautifully balance on branches of Birches, where Blue Jays boast their bravado by Bursting with bountiful ballads, as Burbling brooks bubble on the banks below. Sonnets ofContinue reading “Songs of the Forest”

Tools

“Tools” My dad had no use for grammar, Never helped me with my school; His skill was with his hammer, And words became my tool. My mom would use a wooden spoon, When baking cakes or cookies, And sometimes when we misbehaved, She’d use it on our tushies. My cat can use her claws, ToContinue reading “Tools”

Be

Baby boy, be brave, Be benevolent, behave. Be unburdened, bare and bold, But obedient to what you’re told. Before you begin to be, Break no bonds with me. My wee beloved bairn, Brilliant, beyond compare, Be humble, but be proud; Let bounteous blessings abound. I begat your beginning breath, But bid you goodbye in death.Continue reading “Be”

In My Head

Is it only in my head? My dreams are always better than life, Sometimes I wish I were dead, My reality is filled with strife. My dreams are always better than life, I know I’m thinking selfishly, My reality is filled with strife, And nobody really loves me. I know I’m thinking selfishly, That’s justContinue reading “In My Head”

Empty Kingdom

Princes and Ladies danced in the Hall, While Kings and Queens would feast; Tapestries and paintings adorned the walls; Their riches would never cease. But time and change are constant foes, Relentless in their pursuit; The kingdom witnessed many woes, Their riches turned to loot. Now the birds dance through the Hall, Partnered by theContinue reading “Empty Kingdom”

Elephant

This poem is in response to a writing prompt from Britta’s Blog, written for the Skeptic’s Kaddish Blog, so please visit each of them. I saw the picture for this prompt, so I’d like to contribute: My boyfriend’s favorite animal was the elephant. I don’t think I ever asked him why; it may be thatContinue reading “Elephant”
